Cisco WS-C3560-48PS Switch Port Speed Limitation

Post by faridmmv » 19 Mar 2018, 10:38

To limit speed on Cisco WS-C3560-48PS, we need to apply below commands on switch.

For Upload:

Enable QOS
configure terminal
mls qos
Create access list and call it speedlimit, you can call it anything depending on switch policies.
ip access-list extended speedlimit
permit ip any any
exit
Create classlimit class and match previously created access list. As previously, you can call it what you want.
class-map match-all classlimit
match access-group name speedlimit
exit
Create policy, and configure speed limitation options. Let`s call it policy_twenty
To limit speed for 20 mbps, enter 20*1024*1024= 20971520. We need to enter value in bytes.
policy-map policy_twenty
class classlimit
police 20971520 1000000 exceed-action drop
exit
exit
Then we need to apply policy to needed interface.
interface fastethernet 0/3
service-policy input policy_twenty
exit
Saving config, and that`s all, upload limited.

For download, technically we need to enter the same command but with output parameter. But unfortunately on this device it is not supported, so we can do below:
SW(config)#interface fastethernet 0/3
SW(config-if)#srr-queue bandwidth limit 20
Command will limit speed for 20% from 100%, as a result we will archive 20 mbps speed on Fast Ethernet port, but what if port is Gigabit, logic is the same. We need either add speed 10 command, to make port Fast Ethernet or play with percent value.
SW(config)#interface GigabitEthernet 0/3
SW(config-if)#speed 100
SW(config-if)#srr-queue bandwidth limit 20
